While Paris is considered the most romantic city in the world, the thought of the only tourists being couples in love is really not the case.  This beautiful city is rich is history and culture with lots of attractions and is a wonderful place to visit as a family.

Travelling with a baby or toddler is a handful at the best of times, so going prepared is an absolute must. The first thing you must take with you is a backpack carrier; you’ll be surprised how many places will ask you to leave your pushchair at the entrance, meaning you have to carry your child the rest of the way.

Unfortunately we have no control over our children and you’ll find you arrive at a museum ready to soak up some culture and your toddler falls asleep in their buggy. You cannot take it inside and there are stairs to get to all the exhibits, this is where travelling with the right backpack carrier makes all the difference.

Don’t get me wrong, Paris is children friendly, but a lot of the museums and attractions don’t allow pushchairs inside.

Aside from that there are fantastic family friendly restaurants to enjoy a meal out while holidaying in the area and there are beautiful parks where the children can run around and play while you sit back, relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery.

• All shops are usually open from 9am to 7pm. They are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. You may even find smaller stores are closed for the whole month of August.

• Restaurants open according to demand and in Paris the busiest times are between 8pm and 10pm. There are a lot of bistros and cafes should you wish to dine earlier.

Chinese New Year 2012 A Colorful Extravaganzas

This year the Chinese New Year in Paris took place over the weekend of 28 and 29 January in the annual Chinese New Year parade.

Paris is home to a large Chinese community who has two parades in Paris to celebrate their New Year. The main parade starts in Avenue D’Ivry in Chinatown and the other one is Place Frehel.

This is a Paris attraction that shouldn’t be missed, the streets come alive with a procession of color, dragons, lions, music and dancers.  The head of the procession this year was a thirty meter dragon in bright yellow, orange, red and gold to celebrate 2012, which is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese calendar.

Chinese musicians, dancers, martial art demonstrators and folk dancers join the parade in traditional costume with brightly colored lanterns, great costumes and lots of fireworks.

The Chinese New Year parade has become one of the top Paris attractions and it welcomes hundreds of spectators who come to enjoy the fun, excitement and colorful displays that are put on the whole weekend.

While watching the parade there are stalls, Chinese restaurants and so many other fun exhibitions and activities taking place.  Book your hotel early so you are guaranteed to enjoy the Chinese New Year parade for 2013.

The Paris Carnival takes place on Sunday 19 February at 1.30pm and starts at the Place Gambetta Paris.  The colorful procession departs from Place Gambetta through Avenue Gambetta to Menilmontant down to Republic Square and Temple Street and arriving at Place de l’Hotel de Ville at around 7pm.

The festival is alive with performances and a musical parade which has been a top Paris attraction since 1997.  Though the carnival itself dates back to the eleventh century, there was fifty years where it didn’t take place at all.

There are hundreds of street performers, artists, jugglers and musicians that line the streets adding to the air of excitement the carnival offers.

Last year over 3,000 performers lined the streets and this year they are hoping for a lot more with the fun theme of Noah’s Ark.

Some Brightness the winter

The Paris Carnival really does offer some bright light during the cold winter months, the air is electrifying and everyone can enjoy the procession which is led by a large cows head through the streets.

The large cows head is a symbol of the old carnival and is followed by dancers, musicians, performances and jugglers that are all dressed up brightly adding the excitement to the parade.

You will be able to enjoy the Paris Carnival by travelling by public transport to any of the streets that the procession covers; there will be entertainment all day by street performers as you wait for the parade to pass.  Last year over 5,000 visitors and locals enjoyed the parade; maybe you shouldn’t miss it this year.

Another Successful Paris Fashion Week is Underway

Paris Fashion Week is one of the most prestigious events held semi-annually in the romantic city of Paris. It draws thousands of visitors to the area, is attended by hundreds of well-known celebrities and shows off the beautiful designs by the world’s top designers.

Any models dream is a chance to appear in Paris Fashion Week, which is one of four major fashion weeks held throughout the world. The schedule starts in New York, followed by London and Milan and ends in beautiful Paris.

The world’s top designers show off their new summer, spring and fall creations including designs by Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy and Valentino.

Being such a big Paris attraction, it’s no surprise that this week saw famous Cameron Diaz enjoying the designs by Valentino, Versace, Dior and Chanel from the front row.

The French Fashion Federation usually determines the dates and 2012 saw the start of the show on Wednesday 18 January and it will continue through to Wednesday 7 March on the following schedule:

• Haute Couture – Monday 23 January to 26 January – Spring Summer Collections
• Ready to Wear – Tuesday 28 February to 7 March – Fall Fashion
• Men’s Fashion – Wednesday 18 January to Sunday 22 January – Fall Fashion

The hotels are bursting at the seams this week as more and more visitors arrive in Paris to witness this amazing event, which is a big tourism industry for Paris.
